Merkle’s Misstep tells the unfortunate tale of Fred Merkle, a young first baseman for the New York Giants. In 1908, his rookie year, he made an in-…
A big project I’ve been working on over this summer has been Full Count - a series of historical baseball comics. The first issue, Merkle’s Misstep, is now available for purchase online!
On a related note, I’ve got a long list of quirky, long-forgotten stories from baseball’s history, but I’m always up for adding more to the list! Feel free to let me know your favorite nonfiction baseball books or your favorite weird baseball stories!
Just wanted to send out a reminder that I’ll be exhibiting at PIX: The Pittsburgh Indy Comix Expo next Saturday, March 22. The exhibit hall is open 10am-5pm and is located at t 10 S.19th Street.
Most of what I’ll be selling is related to my parody travel guide for time travelers, but I will have some small prints of my PNC Park drawing for sale. Plus, if you mention you’re a follower of my blog, I’ll do a quick sketch for ya!
I hope you are all having a lovely off-season. As lovely as a season without baseball can be, anyhow.
I’m getting ready to head down to Florida to catch some spring training games - and why YES. I am ridiculously excited. Be looking for a few sketch updates when I return.
Speaking of which… I haven’t yet decided the format I’ll be doing during the 2014 season. Weekly “completed” drawings, like I did last year? Daily quick sketches like the year before? Or maybe a completed drawing of a different player each week?
Please let me know what you’d like to see more of on Sketchbook Buc’n this year! Send a message to me here or tweet at me - @SketchBucn
As some of you who follow me on Twitter probably know, I’m getting married tomorrow (er - it’s after midnight - so… today!). Unfortunately, this has left me a bit busy in terms of my outside-of-work time for the past few weeks. (This also unfortunately means my soon-to-be-husband is going to have to deal with me following the postseason on our honeymoon — but I ain’t complaining about that!)
Because of this, the last two sketch sets of the regular season are going to be delayed a couple more weeks. But they will be up! As well as a few post-season drawings, hopefully!
I wanted to make a separate post for this, because I am all kinds of excited.
I am even all kinds of excited now that it is 1:19am and I’m pretty tired and I’ve know about this for a few days now.
Remember the drawing I did of PNC Park for the Pirates’ twitter background during the opening series? (If not, click here)
The drawing is going to be used as a part of the pre-game video on the PNC Park scoreboard before every home game in August!
So, uh, make sure you get to your seats on time next month!
And as long as I’m doing a text-heavy post, let me also say thank you to everyone who’s been liking, sharing, retweeting, and favoriting my drawings so far this year! You guys are all great, and hopefully I’ll have new Pirates drawings for you well into the post-season!
